Post Image Nigeria has many promising youngsters that have significantly risen to continental recognition. According to a profiling done by NT, here is a list of very promising Nigerian junior smashers.

Oyinlomo Quadri

At 14, Oyinlomo Barakat Quadri is inarguably Nigeria’s most talented junior lawn tennis player in Africa. Watching her grow into the tennis protege she is becoming has been both fun and very inspiring. The youngster is very committed and focused on her dreams, and the product of this is what bagged her a scholarship the High Performance Centre in Casablanca, Morocco, 2016. Still in 2016, Oyinlomo grabbed three-straight ITTF/CAT Circuit titles. ITF Development officer, Amine Ben Macklouf described Oyinlomo as a future tennis Superstar due to the progress she made within her short stay period at Casablanca.

Marylove Edwards

There is almost no junior level commotion that this youngster does to have a medal for. At 12, Marylove truly displayed her skill and passion for the sport to the world, to Nigeria first when she made it to the final of the biggest domestic tennis event in Nigeria; Central Bank of Nigeria Open. Marylove started playing tennis at age four under her father’s supervision and her growth in this sport is truly remarkable. Seeing the huge talent that she possessed, Temple Management Company (TMC), a Nigerian firm signed her with the sole target of making her be among the top 250 players in the world by 2022 which would pave the way to make her feature in the Women Tennis Association (WTA) tournaments. The youngster moved to the US where she is with the famous IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Oiza Yakubu

Level 14 and under champion Oiza Yakubu is daughter od former natuoona female tennis player, Jumoke Yakubu. This youngster’s exploits are so remarkable because over time we’ve seen her go up against [players that are seemingly way beyond her league and still defeat them. Oiza is from the Scheme Two Housing Tennis Club, Ogba, Lagos and in her first senior tournament last year at the Rainoil Tennis Championships, she won qualifying matches beating two senior players. At the 2018 African Junior Championship in Lome, she grabbed a qualifying ticket for the main tournament in Egypt.

Serena Teluwo

Named after world famous American tennis superstar, Serena Williams, Serena Teluwo is a dedicated player and one of Nigeria’s very best. She is the daughter of former owner of VIP Football Club of Lagos, Chief Adewale Teluwo. One thing you can watch out from this young player is that her experience would be more than her counterparts due to her travels and tours.

Favor Moses

In the girls category, this youngster has already established herself as a really huge force to reckon with. At 16, Favor has represented Nigeria at various international tournaments and won the CBN Junior title in Lagos last week where she was also named the Most Outstanding Player. Sponsored by AMK Foundation, this youngster has dominated her category and there is every chance that in the coming years she will rule the senior categories if she is as consistent as she is at the moment.
