Therefore, as a business leader, you must deploy strategies to make your team think differently. In this article, I discuss three ways you can make your team think differently.
  • Design A Risk-Taking Workplace

Companies that popularize risk-taking culture tend to have teams that think differently. When there is a risk-taking culture in your company, team members tend to think independently and put their creative power to test. According to a Salesforce survey of more than 1,500 business professionals, when there is a risk-taking environment, which allows for creative flow, workers are more likely to perform five times better than those that don’t work in a risk-taking workplace.

Reframe Failure

Redefining failure can change the way your team members view failure. Having a different perspective about failure can eliminate all forms of fear that inhibit risk-taking. Therefore, as a business owner, it is important to normalize failure as inevitable and a part of the business process. This will empower your team members to always try out new things, even in the face of failure.

Also, as a business owner or executive, you can make your team think differently when you present failures as an opportunity to learn. Failure is an opportunity for team members to derive information that they can apply to their next try. Therefore, failure adds value and knowledge to your team, which is always a win. Just like leading businesses, providing a safe space for failed projects is important to make your team members think differently.
  • Bring In Outside Perspectives

Finally, it is important to get other perspectives outside the company because sometimes team members might feel bored from day-to-day operations of monotonous routines. Therefore, as a business leader, you can invite over fellow business partners or consultants who can bring fresh business perspectives into your business space and inspire your team members. Through this method, team members can enjoy new angles that can help unlock several creativities within them. Sometimes, you can as well take them outside the company to see other places.

For example, some of the greatest innovations we’ve seen over the past several years are the product of partnerships. Apple and Mastercard, for instance, teamed up to bring Apple Pay and the Apple Card to market.

A Final Word

Designing a company that makes your team think differently is all about creating a culture that stimulates creativity and ensures productivity. As we have discussed above, if you want your team to think differently you must normalize risk-taking and independent thinking among your workforce. Secondly, you must also normalize failures, which can make team members have the courage to on new initiatives without fear. Finally, to create a company that stimulates creative thinking, you must bring fresh perspectives from outside the company. Featured Image Source: Freepik
