The most celebrated individuals in human history are not motivated, but those who have maintained a high level of consistency regardless. Little wonder, UK wartime prime minister, Winston Churchill echoed: “If you are going through hell, keep going.” He went on to state that success is the fruit of consistency. Hear him speak to the world, “Success is moving from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” That is true! Consistency maintains a high degree of enthusiasm no matter what.

A lot of talented people don’t fulfil their potential due to a lack of consistency. Consistency is about staying and grinding until you see the results you want. It is not enough to stay motivated, you must remain consistent. At the heart of being productive is consistency. The big truth is this: Great things are not built on motivation and visions alone, it boils down to being consistent. In this article, I share the 5 top secrets of maintaining a high consistency level.
  • Take Advantage Of Morning Energy
Studies have shown that humans are most productive in the morning. Waking up from a good night’s rest makes you feel refreshed. The first thing to do in the morning is not to go check your WhatsApp or emails or Facebook. A good way to go is to have a routine that keeps you energized. For me, I meditate for 10 minutes, read a page of motivational, wash my face and brush my mouth and then do 25 pushups, take a cool shower and ready to kick off.
  • Have A Good Night Rest
I have often talked about the superpower of sleep. A good night’s sleep has a lot of health benefits. According to Rachel Reiff Ellis of WebMD, a lack of sleep at night can make you cranky the next day. And over time, skimping on sleep can mess up more than just your morning mood. Studies show getting quality sleep regularly can help improve all sorts of issues, from your blood sugar to your workouts. With quality night rest, your brain becomes sharper, your mood is boosted, and your heart becomes healthier. Other benefits include athletic achievement, steadier blood sugar and germ prevention.

  • Write it Down to F.O.C.U.S.
F.O.C.U.S is not just a phrase, it is a powerful acronym for Follow One Course Until Success. Little wonder, many high achievers built their consistency level to an enviable height as a result of their lazar focus. According to Daniel Day-Lewis, “When I did decide to focus on acting, I think my mother was just relieved that I had finally started to focus.” The big question to ask yourself is this: “What do you want?” When you identify what you want, build a system around it: routines, tasks, people, rewards, consequences, events, tools. Just focus on one thing. Focusing on many things at the same time kills consistency. All you need to do is to channel all your energy toward one goal.
  • Consistent Thinking
Whatever stays in your mind for long will give birth to actions. “In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.” — Thomas Jefferson. Allowing yourself to be preoccupied with the mission keeps you on track. Another way to sustain a consistent thought pattern is to read and hear topical materials that will educate you and build your mind around that knowledge. For instance, you want to keep going in your business, pre-occupy yourself with books, videos and podcasts on business growth and so on. That is how to train your mind into obsessive thinking that fires your consistency level to a high degree.
  • Create A Defense Against Self-Doubt
Self-doubt destroys the power of consistency. There are times doubt might want to creep in and distract and slower your drive. It’s natural, however, you must defeat it. According to Suzy Kassem, “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.”  Doubt hides like a shadow in the dark. Knowledge destroys the shadows, but there isn’t enough time, or even capacity, to eliminate all the shadows in our minds. The best way to conquer self-doubt is to guard your heart diligently. Doubt comes from what we see, hear and imagine. However, the Bible says “faith comes by hearing”. Therefore, the best way to plant the seed of faith in your heart is by listening and speaking to yourself about what motivates you. When your whole being is full of light, you will overcome.
