Tosin Jegede Foundation

The ‘1 Child, 1 Book’ initiative by Tosin Jegede Foundation has just received a boost from Jumia Nigeria, one of the fast-growing e-commerce companies in the country. The partnership is meant to promote the reading culture in Lagos State by making books easily available to pupils. According to Mr. Afam Anyika, Jumia’s Public Relations Manager, Jumia has been supportive of the Tosin Jegede Foundation’s initiative to contribute towards literary development for a while back, but recently decided to up the ante. He told Connect Nigeria that Jumia will donate one book to the foundation for every book bought from the company, which will be distributed to pupils in Lagos State. “What this means is that if we sell five thousand books in a month, we will donate five thousand books, and if we sell a hundred books, we will donate a hundred books,” Anyika noted. The spokesman for the organisation explained that the goal is to contribute towards promoting quality education in the society, especially among kinds. Jumia recently delivered several books, under the ‘1 Child, 1 Book’ programme at Ojota Primary School in Lagos, Nigeria. Representatives of First City Monument Bank, FCMB, and DHL – co-sponsors of the initiative – were present at the event.
