I was recently in a discussion group where the main speaker gave a presentation on the concept of work-life balance. According to her, work-life balance is achievable when we consciously make choices that perfectly combine all aspects of our lives. During the discussion, what struck me was not only how divided the opinions on work-life balance were, but also, how everyone seemed to be giving up something in their personal lives, to be able to focus on their careers. In this TEDxSydney speech, Nigel Marsh brilliantly talks about how we can approach work-life balance from a personal perspective, to ensure that whatever we choose for ourselves, is what is best for us.
