Sometimes in the journey of life, we come across some people with so much promise; so much potential in them to go on and become the very best they could be in life. But sadly, a lot don’t eventually attain this potential, they don’t fulfil their great promise, not because they don’t possess enough abilities but simply because they lack someone or something that will encourage them and give them the needed push to go on and succeed in life. As we see in this video, a story told by David McNally, even for an eagle to live up to its potential, it still needs the push. The same way the eagle would gently coax her offspring towards the edge of the net so that it could soar, the same way so many people around us today need to be encouraged by us so that they would succeed. Encouragement goes straight to the heart; it is an incitement to action or to practice or to be better. Encouragement requires a lot of belief in the other person abilities even when they themselves cannot see those abilities. Just like the eagle, some people are meant to soar, but the fear of falling will never allow them to experience the thrill of soaring. And that is why you are there to help them, to help give the needed push. So, as you go out today, make up your mind to encourage someone, your colleague, your friend, or a subordinate. Add a few words of praise for the person’s abilities or accomplishments in front of others. Let them know you are standing solidly behind them, share stories of how you have been encouraged in the past and why you believe that with a little more effort, they will get to the top. Always remember; instruction does much, but encouragement does everything.   About the author: Chris Bamidele is a passionate and unapologetic Nigerian, who believes in God and humanity.
