Because this life is full of challenges, especially obstacles that stand in the way of you achieving your goal, you need a dose of mental power to pull through. People who aren’t mentally strong enough often chicken out in the face of challenges. They easily slide into depression or give up on their aspirations when faced with challenges. No intellectual or academic achievement can make you mentally strong. This is why mental power can be called inner courage built on a certain set of principles and rituals. Mental power goes beyond what you have been taught in school. It is all about your worldview and principles. It is what separates heroes from cowards. In this article, we shall look at how to develop your mental power and take charge of your life.
  • Engage In Positive Self-Motivation

In a world full of selfish people and mindless competition, it is very rare for you to find genuine cheerleaders. This can be more difficult when you are faced with unpleasant circumstances. Moving ahead is 90% your efforts and 10% efforts from society. What does this tell you? It means you are solely responsible for pulling yourself up when you fall. How can one go about pulling himself up? You just have to be your reader. You have to daily take your dose of self-motivation. You can do this by facing the mirror and talking to yourself, reminding yourself how incredible you are. You can journal your feelings, your aspirations and even write a letter of motivation yourself. This can go a long way in developing your mental power.

  • Believe In Abundance

Having an abundance mentality is a radical worldview in a world where the majority think of scarcity. What does it mean to believe in abundance? It means having a worldview that you have all it takes to make your life better. It means you are not letting yourself be hampered by a destructive and limiting belief system. It is reminding yourself that your tribe, class, race, gender, religion, or colour cannot stand in the way of your dreams. Believing in abundance is telling yourself that your dreams are valid, that the world is waiting to hear your song or read your story, or that the world is your stage and you have all it takes to wow the world. It is to simply believe in endless possibilities within and outside you.
  • Hang Around The Right People

It was Myles Munroe who told the story of a lion who grew among sheep and began to behave like one. The lion lost its true self because he was in the wrong company. Being in the wrong company can affect your mentality either negatively or positively. It was also Alexander the Great that opined years ago this timeless revelation: “I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep, but I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion.” This timeless revelation reminds us of the impact of being in the company of the right people.

Little wonder, a wise man once said “if you are in the company of four fools, you will be the fifth fool, but if you are in the company of four wise men, you will be a fifth wise one.” Company is everything. If you are going to build your mental strength, you have to deliberately be in the company of those who motivate you and not those who desire to bring you down.
  • Enter Your Energy Space

Building your energy space is all about doing what increases your spiritual and physical energy. It is all about having a quiet time alone to reflect and think of endless possibilities and how to take charge of them. Furthermore, studies have found that yoga, which uses various postures and deep breathing for exercise and meditation, can be an excellent fatigue fighter. Entering your energy space includes a series of activities that gives you joy and happiness, which gives you the energy to face each day with confidence. Featured Image Source: The Guardian
