The Lagos State Employment trust Fund (LSETF) is an empowerment programme setup by Lagos State Government under the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to ‘provide support to residents of Lagos State, for job, wealth creation and to tackle unemployment.’ It was formed with the mandate to directly invest ₦25 Billion in helping Lagos residents to grow and scale their Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) or acquire skills which would enable them get better/credible jobs. The Fund is geared towards strengthening the nation’s economy by removing production constraint and to support businesses to grow while ensuring the availability of a competent work force that ensure businesses find the right people to hire. The LSETF in partnership with the Ministry of Wealth Creation & Employment plans to strengthen the employability status of Lagos State residents by engaging the youth to take up existing jobs in various sectors of the economy. Embedded in the programme is the LSETF Loan setup for business owners that want to take their business to the next level but has financial constraints. Currently LSETF is working on a program of initiatives to support technology-based entrepreneurship and tech start-ups in Lagos State.
