Applications are now open for the Chevening UK Scholarships. Candidates from Nigeria may apply for a one-year, fully funded master’s degree program in the UK, for the 2022/23 academic session.

The Chevening Scholarships program is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office of the United Kingdom, and partner organizations. It is aimed at giving students from various countries the opportunity to gain a world-class education and be equipped with skills that enable them to shape a better world.

To date, over 50,000 people from across the globe have benefited from the scholarships.

Benefits

The Chevening Scholarships cover the following costs:

•University tuition fees

•Monthly stipend

•Travel costs to and from the United Kingdom

•Arrival allowance and homeward departure allowance

•One visa application

•Travel grant to attend Chevening events in the United Kingdom

Eligibility

Persons intending to apply for a Chevening Scholarship should meet these conditions:

•Must have completed an undergraduate degree and achieved a minimum of a Second Class Upper (2:1)

•Have at least two years of work experience

•Apply to three different eligible universities in the United Kingdom       

•Return to their home country within two years after completing their program in the UK

•Have not previously studied in the United Kingdom with funding from a UK-government funded scholarship

•Must not hold British or Dual British citizenship

Application Process

The application process will unfold thus:

•Interested persons should apply for a Chevening Scholarship on the program’s website. The deadline for this is November 2.

NB: They can update their application with their educational documents, references, and offer of admission from a UK university when these become available to them.

•Candidates will apply to three different masters’ courses, either at the same institution or each at three different institutions in the UK.

•Applications for the Chevening Scholarships will be weighed against the eligibility criteria. This will carry on until December 2021.

•A reading committee will screen the eligible applications. A shortlist of applicants will be arrived at.

•The shortlisted candidates will be informed via email that they have been invited to an interview. Notices will be sent out between early and mid-February 2022.

•Shortlisted applicants will be expected to submit their education documents and two references before the interview date (see below).

•Interviews will take place between 28 February and 29 April, at British embassies and High Commissions.

•The strongest candidates will be offered a Chevening Scholarship. This will begin in June 2022.

•Selected candidates are expected to have submitted an unconditional offer of admission from an eligible UK university by July 14, 2022.

•Successful candidates will begin their studies in the UK between September and October 2022.
