Destiny favours the bold, or so the saying goes. To get something, you have to be willing to do something. The money you need in life, will not just fall on you, if you haven’t positioned yourself through hard work, and deliberately taking risks that pay off. That’s why there is usually a raffle draw segment at the Fairs. Over the years, raffle draw winners have walked away with iPads, Laptops, Desktop Printers, Portable Sony PlayStation, Car Navigation systems, Smartphones, as well as, other useful gadgets, as prizes that would have a direct impact on their businesses. In 2015, Union Bank gave away N100,000 and N50,000 to two lucky persons, who opened an account with them at the fair. This just goes to show that when you take action on any of your preplanned goals, the outcome can be staggering. Giveaways, on the other hand, are a different ball game. This year, separate from the raffle draw, Connect Nigeria, is willing to give away N250,000 to some winners, who can write up their business plan in 50 words. (Note: It has to be a start-up idea that can be achieved with N250,000.) The 50-word startup business plan ideas are to be dropped in the comment section of the Connect Nigeria Instagram handle. Random winners will be selected and announced during the fair. Also, one of our partners, THANK U, is prepared to giveaway about 2,000 Reward and Loyalty Cards to a select few of the Connect Nigeria e-business fair 2018 participants. These cards allow you to get a percentage back on whatever items you purchase at any THANK U location, and they will still be valid after the event. This is just one more reason why you need to participate in the fair actively. Speaking of giveaways, let’s talk about a different kind of giveaway that happens at this type of events. The KJV Bible says a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before kings. In layman’s literal English, when you give someone a gift, it can bring you or your name before people of high repute. Don’t just attend the business fair with your business card only, come with a few of your products that you can strategically give away to people who can impact your business tremendously. Giveaways don’t have to be just a free exchange of something for next to nothing. Even selling at a discount is considered a giveaway. So if you can, offer your services and or products at a discount to prospects. This will attract positive attention as well. If you are just starting out, you can launch your business during the fair and offer discounts to those who patronise you that day. Last year, a wise business owner (Gidi Cartel) launched his business at Connect Nigeria’s Fair and was able to secure an investment deal for a million dollars from a New York fund. (Find out how he did it here)  His company is just under a year in business at the moment. So, when you choose to launch and offer discounts, see it as an opportunity to establish connections aka networking. Some of the people you will meet have the potential to invest in your company or hook you up with others who can. Remember the Connect Nigeria Business Fair 2018 is closer than ever before. It’s barely 3days away so hurry up and make a decision. Choose whether to participate in the giveaways or to get your raffle tickets asap.
