He was born in Bromsgrove, Midlands but he grew up in Birmingham. He later came to Nigeria where he attended Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos and then proceeded to the University of Lagos to acquire a degree in history and education. Then, he went to England to study Fashion design. The Nigeria-London Fashion designer whose fashion brand, Ade Bakare Couture have been existing for about three decades, Ade Bakare.

Ade Bakare Couture was founded in 1991. He took a loan from PYBT to establish his brand. After establishing his brand, he began selling his collection to stores and boutique owners located in different parts of England, Scotland and many other places like Lucienne Phillips of Knightsbridge, London,  Adela Davis, old Bond str, London, Chic of Hampstead, London,  Ambers of Amersham Buckingham-Shire, England, The foundation, Guildford, England. When he started, he only designed female wears, but he has now expanded and he has men collections. In 1995, he officially launched his bridal collection. His bridal collection caught the eyes of prominent fashionistas and he was selected as one of London’s most influential designers by Bride Magazine. Due to his mind blowing collections, he has become popular in the fashion industry, therefore, he has shown his collections in different runways in the world like Cape Town, New York, Morocco, Paris etc. In 1999, Ade delved into another aspect of fashion. He created his perfume brand named “Breeze”. Ade said the scent of his perfume was inspired by his days in Nigeria. He wanted a scent that reminded him of the air he inhaled in Lagos, Nigeria. He introduced his collection “Bakare Breeze” which caters for high end female clothing. He used a wide range of fabric for the collection, ranging from silk to adire, chiffon, etc. Ade’s designs are known for being classic and modern. Ade Bakare Couture headquarter is in London, and he has branches in Lagos and Abuja.

His collections have been worn by influential people like: Caroline Chikezie, Alice Patten, daughter of Hong Kong Minister, Jocelyn Burton, a celebrity jeweler. He had been invited by Princess Adelaide to show designs in her fabric at  British parliament in London. He was the official designer of the 1st Lady of Nigeria Mrs. Stella Obasanjo and the First Lady of Rivers State, Nigeria, Mrs Judith Amaechi. His brand has won awards like: African Business Man of the Year in 1998, International Designer of the Year City People Award in Nigeria (twice), Special recognition award, City People Award Nigeria, Recognition of Change Award, Just U Magazine / Lagos State, Fashion Category Award Federal Ministry of youth and Sport for empowering youths in Nigeria. He received an award in Place Vendôme in Paris, France. He was given an award at the Eloy Awards Ceremony at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos.  Ade Bakare has no doubt, proven himself to be the best at what he does, from 1991 till date.
