Union Bank of Nigeria Plc. has restated its continued support for the growth of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria, describing them as the drivers of national development and economic growth. Union Bank, in partnership with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency SMEDAN, is organising market access conferences for SMEs in ten cities around Nigeria. So far the conference has held in six cities and has focused on providing training support and exposing SME owners to various financial industry products and schemes that would aid business growth. Speaking on the partnership, The Head of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications of Union Bank, Ogochukwu Ekezie-Ekaidem said “Union Bank is committed to supporting the growth of SMEs in Nigeria because we recognize their value and contribution to Nigeria’s overall economic growth. This partnership is an opportunity to impact these businesses directly and proffer solutions to their everyday challenges.” SME owners across the country will be exposed to various skills, products and services that would facilitate the growth of their businesses, which is in line with recent government interventions to boost MSMEs performance. Upcoming editions of the conference will be held in Ibadan: August 13th, Asaba: August 25th, Calabar: August 27th and Kano: September 17th.
