Nigeria’s innovative taxi booking app, Uber, recently introduced SafetyNet, a new feature set on improving user experience in the area of security.

With this new development, users can “share their ETA” easier, providing up to five preselected contacts with information on their whereabouts, location on a map, as well as information on drivers and taxis in use. This information is sent as a link directly from the Uber server, limiting the dependence on phone plan limitations.

“Transparency is one important way that Uber’s technology improves safety in transportation. By keeping driver-partners, riders and their loved ones informed of where they are and who they are with, the anonymity is taken out of a trip,” Uber said in an official press release.
