Some bookstores won’t yet give in to being phased out in the competition of the digital era against walk-in shops. Notable for their artistic style and unique collections of a wide variety of categories, here is a list of bookstores in Lagos where you can walk in, relax and have yourself feel through the pages of real paper books.  
  1. CSS Bookshop Since 1896, CSS Bookshop is most likely the oldest in Lagos. It is located in The Bookshop House 50/52, Broad Street, 4th Floor, which on its own is an impressive landmark. The bookstore has in its collection a range of fiction, classics, academic books, Christian books, books for children and stationery.
  2. Glendora Glendora is located in Ikeja City Mall, within the vicinity of the State’s secretariat in Alausa. In its collection are various categories of books and stationery gift items. You wouldn’t just want to sit in restaurants or hang around in wait for your cinema schedule without getting yourself a good book or two from Glendora.
  3. Terra Kulture If you love Nigeria, Terra Kulture is where you should be. This beautifully crafted centre comprises a bookshop, an art gallery, a restaurant with exquisite Nigerian cuisine, a study room, and a cultural events centre. Established in 2004, Terra Kulture prides itself in promoting the country’s culture by having in its collection, books in various categories by all-Nigerian authors. In addition to why it’s an all time readers choice, Terra Kulture holds book readings and classes in Nigerian languages. It is located in 1376 Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, and open 9AM to 10PM every day.
  4. The Hub The Hub is renowned in Lagos for its collection of fiction, non-fiction, classics, signed first editions, books for children and lots more. It is located in The Palms Shopping Mall, Lekki, and a reader’s choice because of the wide range in its collection.
  5. The Jazz Hole This cozy place is a haven to readers. The Jazz Hole is located on 168 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi and also offers occasional literary events. It’s not simply cozy and well-stocked, the music in the background also adds to its impeccable ambience. The Jazz Hole is open 10AM to 7PM Mondays through Saturdays.
