There is a recent craze for online presence. Business owners are taking their businesses to higher levels with the internet, and creating landing pages is one sure way to achieve visibility. Although, it is important to have a fullblown website for your business, having a landing page is essential. This is because it provides a straighttothepoint value to your customers.

So instead of them going through your entire website and trying to figure out who you are and what you sell, they can easily get to your landing page with specific products listed for sale and how to get them.

According to Crazyegg, ‘a landing page can be your homepage or another page within your taxonomy, or it can be a standalone page created for a specific campaign, sale, or product’. Creating a landing page is obviously important, but do you think it is something every Tom, Dick and Harry can do? Not to say that it is difficult, of course, many people do it, just that there are guidelines on how to create one that will work effectively. In this article, I outline 5 tips on how to create a landing page that works.

Have a catchy headline

Your headline is your hook. It is the first thing your potential customer will see before he/she even decides to keep scrolling or bounce off immediately. Your headline should grab your prospect’s attention. It should be short, possibly witty, and should give direct information about the product(s) you are selling. There is a suggested limit of 10 words. However, just keep it as concise as possible.

Have an attention-grabbing sub-headline

Once you’ve established your short and sweet headline, the next step is to ensure your subheading is optimized. Let’s say you ‘hook’ your prospect with your headline, you wont want to leave him/her disappointed with a subheading that is not attention-grabbing or persuasive. Here, you give more details about your sales campaign.

Invest in visual content

See your sales campaign as a process of feeding your prospects. Having eye-catchy visual content is like a valuable spice that can positively change the narrative for you. It is enough to trigger your prospects to buy from you. The images, videos or graphic content should be clear and quality, to reflect the product you are selling. This will keep your visitors glued to your page, as they will be hungry for more.

Create quality description

With the above in place, it will be an error if the body of your campaign is not top-notch. This is where you explain in detail your product features and how they can solve the related problems of your prospective customers. Failure to do this will leave them disappointed. This is definitely where you ‘show yourself’. Utilize it well.

Incorporate stories

Ever heard of the hookstoryoffer process of selling? You will need that on your landing page. Your headline and subhead serve as your hooks, you will need stories to back them up. When we talk about a story here, it is not a mindless tale about random things. It is what gives you the opportunity to talk about your pain points and how the product has helped you solve the problems. It could also be testimonials from people who have used it prior to the sales campaign. The thing is, you will have to structure it properly, so that it will be relatable to your readers, and they will be more prone to purchase the ‘solution’.

The final thing will be to have a Call-To-Action (CTA). It will be pointless if you carry out all these steps without inserting a purchase link or something, directing your readers to buy your product. Be creative and make sure that your tone remains empathic and persuasive. You can go ahead and create your landing page, putting these tips to work.
