Startimes is set to collaborate with the Nigerian Film industry on the
Queen of Nollywood Reality TV show.
This was disclosed by the President of the Nollywood Executives and Leadership Awards, Frank Ikegwuonu, and President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, on Monday.
The Show
The TV network is expected to handle the exclusive broadcast of the reality show, which, according to Ikegwuonu, will be wholesome entertainment which will highlight African values, culture and traditions. There will be 20 female participants in the unscripted and unrehearsed mimicry of some celebrated actresses in their daily real life activities.
“These contestants will be expected to mimic four of Nollywood’s most outstanding actresses — Mercy Johnson, Patience Ozokwor, Funke Akindele and Queen Nwokoye.”

Six winners are expected to emerge at the end of the show, who will be crowned
Queen of Nollywood Brand Ambassadors, each receiving a one-year film contract, sponsorship for a pet project, as well as cash prices among other things.
According to Tunde Aina, who is the Chief Operating Officer at
NTA-Startimes, the reality TV show will showcase our homegrown art and culture to the rest of the world while also producing fresh talents for the movie industry.

Aina added that the show will leverage his organisation’s network and other machinery for publicity.

The
Queen of Nollywood reality TV talent hunt will be shot at the
Yankari Games Reserve in Bauchi state and is fully backed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
The vice chairman of the Turkish Film Commission, Sait Yardimcialso, pledged on behalf of the commission to host the
Queen of Nollywood ambassadors in Istanbul, Turkey at the end of the talent hunt as part of its contribution.
