I once read about Stoic Philosophers in the course of a research work. These great minds often withdrew from their environment anytime they want to come up with new thoughts. Bill Gates once withdrew from Harvard only to launch out later with Microsoft! Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook has a similar story at Harvard. The question is, Why the withdrawal? Let me clarify here that Harvard is one of the best institutions in the world; for me, I rate Harvard as the best! So my posture here about these great folks withdrawing from Harvard has nothing to do with the standard of the great institution. Having made this clarification, I will now proceed. Swiss Psychiatrist and Inventor, Carl Jung, once said, ‘‘He who looks outside, dreams; he who looks inside, awakes.” Could these great men be looking inside? Maybe, I think they did look inside. You have a lot of deposits within. Greatness emanates from within. When I teach Performance Efficiency and Success Psychology, I tell my audience to practice what I call: Deliberate Withdrawal and Deliberate Focus. These concepts separate successful people from average folks. The model teaches that you deliberately withdraw from ‘‘unnecessary public’’ when you want to achieve extraordinary results. It is when you do this Withdrawal that you will Focus on the things you want to achieve. THIS IS ONE OF THE SECRETS OF SUCCESS. The challenge is that this trait is not easy to come by. You must be disciplined and result oriented if you want to attain these levels of self-awareness and self-efficacy. I have achieved a lot of tasks using this formula, I wrote a book, ‘‘Everything Is Possible’’ in two weeks by applying this model. You too can. You can’t achieve this if you are a ‘‘Follow-Follow’’ kind of person! You must be self-motivated. You must have a direction in life. You must take charge of your journey. These responsibilities are not transferable. They are your call. Take charge of the driver’s seat and navigate your journey toward your destination! Let me quickly add that this model is not anti-social or anti people. I have always talked and written about maintaining a balance in all that you do. Maintaining a balanced model seeks to nullify the weakness you will encounter in applying deliberate withdrawal and deliberate focus concepts. Here, you do the right things at the right time in order to maintain equilibrium. You are expected to work at the right time, give attention to the family when you are supposed to; give appropriate time to your spiritual and social lives and, of course, maintain a healthy living. This is how to achieve real success. Every facet of your life must be working. The definition of failure is when you succeed in your Workplace and fail at Home. This is a No … No! Try not to be ”too public!” The crowd does not achieve extraordinary results! Great inventions are achieved by the few who withdrew from the crowd with the intention to do something differently.  This thought may sound strange for average minds but great thinkers know what I am talking about. Let me give you an assignment as I conclude this write-up. Take a decision now to withdraw for 30 days from unnecessary gathering, avoidable places and stay away from idle minded friends. Do this with the intention to focus on achieving a particular task. Follow through your plans and see what you will achieve in 30 days! This is very practical. Try it now! Let’s get to the top together. EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
