Recipe For Strawberry Milkshake 

The weather has been dreadful; it’s so hot that it literally feels like it’s showing off. Time and again, I’ve found myself telling it, “Huncle, be calming down oh! We already know what you’re capable of.” But it seems determined to set us all ablaze. My weapon against this heat is the sweet, cold treat that I make in my kitchen. They keep me sane and happy.

Today’s strawberry milkshake is thick, creamy, sweet and satisfying. It’s a lovely dessert too, one that your loved ones would appreciate. Before we start this milkshake production, here are a few things for you to take note of. First, soaking the strawberries in sugar is optional. However, this step can make a huge difference in the overall taste of your milkshake. The sugar pulls out the natural juices in the fruit and intensifies its sweetness. So, if you want to upgrade the taste and flavour of your strawberry milkshake, all you have to do is sprinkle a little sugar on the strawberries and allow them to sit and absorb it. Secondly, we are Nigerians and the power supply is a nightmare in this country. Thus, freeze time for the strawberries is dependent on the availability of power. But you can freeze for two to three hours if the power supply is constant on the day you choose to make this treat. Otherwise, freeze for a longer time.

Method of Preparation

Rinse the strawberries and cut the tops off. Slice them thinly. Place them in a bowl. Sprinkle two tablespoons of granulated sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla extract on the strawberries. Toss them to combine then place them in a freezer. Place two glasses in the freezer to chill as well.

When your strawberries are frozen enough, transfer them to a clean blender. Please, make sure you scrape off the syrupy juice that has accumulated at the bottom of the bowl. Add the condensed milk and blend till the strawberries are pulverized. Take the blender jug off the base and stir the ice cream into the milk and strawberry mix by hand. Blend all ingredients till they are well combined. If you have a challenge blending the ingredients, add one-quarter cup of milk and stir thoroughly.

Pour the milkshake into the chilled glasses. Enjoy immediately.
