Oracle, an American global computer technology corporation, has opened its new office in Victoria Island, Lagos. Oracle’s move was as a result of the level of technology uptake in Nigeria and the increased demand for Oracle’s products in the country which has outpaced that of South Africa. Alfonso Di lanni, Senior V.P, at the official opening of the office said, “Demand for our products and services in Nigeria have been the best in Africa. It is higher than that of South Africa. Our cloud services enable customers to maximise productivity. Our hybrid infrastructure allows customers to focus on where they have core competence while we provide the platform for them.” He added that Oracle has over 100 business partners in the country and that the firm will continue to invest in the country; building local capacities and competences. He also said that Oracle has fostered partnership with Lagos State, Edo State and the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF). He stated that all the partnerships have been successful as the firm’s solutions have improved service delivery at minimal costs. On opening Oracle’s new office in Victoria Island, Lagos, he said that this move means that the firm has huge customers base in the country. He said the new structure commissioned will begin to run Oracle’s local and West African businesses from Nigeria. According to him, the new office is a starting point for the firm in its future operations in the country and its sub-region, adding that funding was needed to meet the growing demand of the market.
