Hey guys, so I tried opening a PayPal account a few days back. After opening the account, I couldn’t connect my ATM cards to the account because they were not accepted. (I am presently protesting against my bankers). So I asked a friend about which banks were preferable for opening a PayPal account and he referred me to GT Bank and Stanbic IBTC Bank (these are not the only banks offering the service, just the ones referred to me).
To prevent you from going through the hassles I went through, here is a step by step procedure for opening a PayPal account.
- Go toPaypal Nigerian homepage:Â https://www.paypal.com/ng/ and click on “Sign Up” at the top right corner of the page.
- For a Personal Account, Click on “Continue”.
- Fill in all details and click on “Agree and Continue”.
(Without verifying your PayPal account, you would be placed at a $250 limit. Verifying your PayPal account lets you spend as much as you will.)
- A new page would come up with a form to log in your card details.
- You will be redirected to your account’s dashboard. Activate your PayPal account by clicking the activation link sent to the mail you registered the account with.
- Next, link and confirm your credit or debit card. Click on “Link and confirm credit or debit card” or “Get Verified” link in your account’s dashboard, insert your card details, here again, then click on “Continue”.
- PayPal would deduct $1.95 from your card which they’ll refund in 24hrs. Now, your bank will alert you via SMS or email with a code which you’ll use in completing the whole verification process.
Your bank’s SMS alert should read:
“Acct:******1234 The Naira equivalent of USD1.95 has been authorized for the transaction done on PP*0123CODE 0123456789FF.”
The four digits before CODE (highlighted in red) from your mail or SMS alert is what you need to confirm your card.
- You now have to log in once more to your Nigerian PayPal account and click on “Confirm Card” link which should appear on the right sidebar of your dashboard. Then type in the four digits from your bank alert and click on “Confirm Card”.
- Verify your card.
- You’ll get a success popup if everything was fine and successful.
Enjoy your shopping *winks*

Simply put if you have first bank account and you have their e-channels I.e you have a token then you can open PayPal a count with ease. FBN is in partnership with PayPal.
Thanks.
If I cannot get my own account, do you think buying a verified PayPal from Auction Essistance would be a good idea to do?
Since Nigeria still has some restrictions, are they people safe to get a USA PayPal account: http://www.auctionessistance.com/shop
My recommendation is to go to http://www.aspkin.com/forums/
They are the original creator of stealth ebay and paypal and they have served me for 10 years flawlessly.
