Dr. Olusegun Mimiko was re-elected as Governor of Ondo state, for a second term on Saturday in the state gubernatorial election. The election is coming at a separate time, after the tilt caused by an election tribunal that changed the Ondo gubernatorial cycle in 2008. Dr. Mimiko, the flagbearer for Labour Party (LP) won the election with a total vote of 260,191. The People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) flagbearer, Olusola Oke had 155,961 votes. The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, had 143,512 votes. The state electoral chairman, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola said the total number of registered voters in the state was 1,638,950 while only 645,597 were accredited to vote, and 30,415 votes cast were declared invalid.
