ConnectNigeria_Dr. Olajumoke Oduwole

A woman with very impressive academic and professional records, Dr. Oduwole is a lecturer at the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. She has been selected as one of the 15 women for the Tiffany Amber and Diamond Woman’s “Meet Nigeria’s Women Of Vision” campaign.

Dr. Oduwole has an undergraduate degree in Law from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and she was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999. As a DFID-Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholar, she earned an LLM degree from the University of Cambridge in the year 2000. A Commonwealth scholarship is a very prestigious and highly competitive scholarship for citizens of commonwealth countries. In 2007, she received a master’s degree in International Legal Studies from Stanford University, USA, the same institution where she thereafter received a doctorate degree in International Trade and Development.

Before her appointment as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Dr. Odutola worked briefly both at FCMB and Guaranty Trust Bank. As a lecturer, she is a member of the senate committee of the University of Lagos. She is also the 2013-2015 Prince Clause Chair holder for the Netherlands.

As a lecturer, Dr. Oduwole goes beyond the traditional teaching and supervision of academic theses. She is a well respected member of the legal community in Nigeria. She is the co-founder of “No Limits”, a leadership and mentoring forum for students, which holds sessions at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. She has also chaired numerous boards and associations.

One major lesson from the profile of Dr. Oduwole is hardwork. She built a successful career and recognition for herself through resilience, diligence, dedication and hardwork. Her profile is enough motivation for all youths, not just the ones studying or practising law. She is an example of what happens when you are focused on being the best you can be.
