Farmcrowdy is an Agric focused tech platform that wants to change the way farming is done in Nigeria, by bridging the gap between farmers and people willing to sponsor farming with their resources. Farmcrowdy offers a platform, where more people can participate in Agriculture, and help increase food production in the country. Impacting rural farmers positively, improving food security in Nigeria, and encouraging youth participation in Agriculture, are some of their major goals. As at last year, the company was said to have secured over 1,000 hectares of farmland in the South-Western part of Nigeria, enough land to support 1,000 farmers. Signing up on the Farmcrowdy platform allows you the chance to choose which farm to sponsor, from the list of farms available on Farmcrowdy. You will get periodic updates and information on the farm, so you can keep track of the growth of the farm until harvest time. Sponsors also receive a percentage of the profit after the sales of harvest, plus the initial capital invested. The sponsorship funds are used to assist the rural farmer by providing access to needed farm resources like farm inputs, trainings on best farming techniques, and so on, all in order to boost the quality and quantity of their food production and also deliver good profit after harvest for both farmer and sponsor. Recently, the Agric Tech portal launched their official mobile app. The app was unveiled at an event that held on November 14th, 2017 at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos. The event also doubled as their one-year anniversary celebration. The Co-founder and CEO of Farmcrowdy, Onyeka Akumah, speaking at the event said, “Nigeria is a mobile-first society and we had feedback from our sponsors who said they wanted improved access to our farms. They spoke, we listened, and we have now built a platform that suits Nigerians’ preferred means of doing business. – a mobile app.” The app is supposed to provide easy access to information especially for farm sponsors who wish to check their dashboard and monitor farm progress on their mobile device. Farmcrowdy also hopes to cater for the majority of users who would want to access the platform from their mobile devices.   The Farmcrowdy app is available on Google PlayStore for Android.
