Nigeria’s Biggest Online TV, iROKO expands to South Africa

IROKO Partners, managers of Nigeria’s biggest online television – iROKOtv and iROKING – has expanded to South Africa with an office. The new office in Johannesburg will be responsible for new businesses, partnerships and content sourcing for its music – iROKING – and movie – iROKOtv – channels. The company started many months back with a YouTube channel Nollywoodlove, showing Nigeria’s Nollywood movies, but has branched to music and related entertainment contents on its websites afterwards. The organization has 6 million unique visitors from 178 different countries monthly. Speaking on the expansion, the manager of the new iROKO office in Johannesburg, Genevieve Dumorne, said, “We’ve come to South Africa to work closely with the continent’s leading media agencies, advertisers and content providers. The entertainment and tech scene in South Africa is mature, dynamic and exciting – we’ll be looking to see not only what we can learn from it, but also what we can contribute to it with iROKOtv and iROKING – two of the continent’s leading online entertainment distribution platforms.”
