1. In a joint effort to combat piracy in Nigeria, MultiChoice, in conjunction with the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), has embarked on a phase out scheme on non-secure decoders, and has introduced more secure decoders for the transmission of DSTV signals. 2. Nigeria has ranked second as the country with the most affordable Internet in emerging nations according to a study conducted by Alliance for Affordable internet (A4AI). 3. The Director General of Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, Dr. Anthony Anuforom has revealed that aside infrastructural development, the agency has been positioned to increase its revenue from non-aeronautical sources to fifty percent. 4. The Flying Eagles are set to hoist Nigeria’s flag at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand next summer, as they defeated Congo 4-1 in an African Youth Championship Group A match in Dakar, Senegal yesterday. 5. Chip maker, Intel Corporation has thrown its weight behind the 11th edition of the National Festival of School Science Fair kicking off in Ado -Ekiti, Ekiti State this weekend. This move is a result of the Corporation’s renewed commitment to expand elementary and secondary students’ knowledge of and enthusiasm for science, mathematics and engineering. 6. The Lighting Africa programme, a joint initiative of the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank, has been unveiled in Nigeria to increase access to affordable, clean and safe lighting for more than 30 per cent of people who live in rural areas. 7. The Teacher Development Programme funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) has been rolled out to boost learning outcomes in six pilot states: Jigawa, Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, Kaduna and Kano. 8. Olam Nigeria Limited has said it provided over N536 million as financing for 12,000 Nigerian cocoa, cashew and sesame farmers  in 2014 under the Olam Livelihood Charter (OLC). 9. The Ondo State Government has disbursed a sum of N335.4 million as loans to 5,000 beneficiaries for the second batch of the Dr. Olusegun Mimiko-led government’s Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Development Fund initiative. 10. The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed confidence in the potentials of the Great Green Wall Project (GGWP)  as a tool for transforming environmental degradation across the country.
