1. Bafana Bafana of South Africa have been chosen as replacement for the Black Stars of Ghana to play against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a friendly match on March 29 at a yet to be determined venue. 2. In an effort to encourage payment of tax, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has launched online tax payment. Speaking in Lagos at the launch and public sensitization of the new product at the weekend, the Acting Executive Chairman of the FIRS, Alhaji Kabir Mashi, explained that the e-Tax Pay Solution is a self-service FIRS channel available on all commercial banks’ internet banking platforms. 5. The Nigeria Police has reiterated its position to ensure free and fair 2015 general elections. Assistant Inspector General of Police, Maritime Command, (AIG) Kalafite Adeyemi, stated this yesterday while maintaining that the Force had the capacity to provide security and contain whatever challenge that might confront them. 6. Four Nigerian teachers have attended the Microsoft in Education Global Forum, which was hosted in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. The event focused on innovative practices using technologies that could help drive rich learning experiences and highlight the achievements of teachers and schools from around the Middle East and Africa, as well as India, who are successfully using technology to engage their students and prepare them for the future. 7. Nigerian energy tycoon, Femi Otedola, has returned to the Forbes world richest list in 2015, after falling off in 2009. Otedola joins Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Folorunsho Alakija and Abdulsamad Rabiu to make the five Africans featured in the list of 1,826 individuals who made the list in 2015. 8. The National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) said it has contributed 2,000 power graduate engineers to the power sector since its inception in 2009 under the NAPTIN Graduate Skill Development Programme (NGSDP) apart from specific intervention and strategic training programmes provided to over 5,000 beneficiaries. 9. Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, has commissioned the N200 million 25kilowatts (kw) Hybrid Solar and Wind Demonstration Plant built by the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN). The plant which is located in Kainji, Niger‎ State according to Nebo, will not only generate electricity, but also be the main training centre for solar and wind technology in Nigeria. 10. The Federal Government has revealed that it has concluded plans to establish a bank for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) to help them access funds and pay over a long period of time.  The bank, ‘Development Bank of Nigeria’ will be launched next month.
