1. Director General of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mr. Olusegun Awolowo , ecently announced that it would train no fewer than 600 farmers in quality shea butter production to enhance its export value. 2. On Wednesday, the LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd, operators of LAGBUS metropolitan buses, said it would offer free bus rides across all routes for residents on New Year’s day. 3. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released a total of N500 million to the Enugu State Government to finance 1,600 micro-enterprise borrowers recommended by Enugu SME Centre, under the state Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Program (MSMEDP). 4. The Nigeria Opportunities Industrialization Centre (NOIC), in collaboration with its parent body and Walmart Foundation, USA, have embarked on measures to boost youth employment in Nigeria. One of the measures was the packaging of the Youth Employment Scheme, aimed at empowering Africans and Nigerians, in particular, for retail needs, which began in Lagos weeks ago. 5. Responding to customers’ demand for familiar design merged with security and speed of BlackBerry 10 for superior productivity, communications and collaboration, BlackBerry Limited has recently introduced its flagship, BlackBerry Classic. 6. Tunde Wey will be returning with his ‘Lagos pop-up’ dinners on January 11, 2014 where he will be serving native dishes at Carrollton Market, New Orleans. 7. Ogun State govern­ment has said it would continue to promote family farming to improve food production and eradicate hunger. The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Ronke Soke­fun, stated that the importance of family farming cannot be underestimated. 8.The Federal Government has approved the payment of about N166 billion to petroleum marketers as reimbursement for outstanding subsidy claims. 9. First Bank and Etisalat have reached an agreement to drive the mobile payment systems and support the CBN cashless policy.  The partnership which involves FirstBank’s Firstmonie Mobile Money and Etisalat’s Easywallet, a SIM application solution, is expected to significantly impact the uptake of mobile money in Nigeria. It would also make mobile payments more accessible and secure. 10. Access Bank has been recognised by the International Film and Broadcast Academy (IFBA) for its support to the growth of the entertainment industry in Nigeria. The founder, IFBA, Mr. Victor Okhai stated, “The truth is that the new generation has to take over and so we have to give them the opportunity to compete in the international level. If they are to start doing films today, you will find out that our standard will shoot up.
