  Fintech Week is back for the 2020 edition and it promises to be a treat in spite of COVID-19 restrictions being in place. The event is as usual much-heralded but this time around COVID gives a different perspective to things.

Nigerian Fintech Week started on the 2nd of November 2020. This year’s theme is “Evolving Economic Disruption: Fintech as a solution. It would feature speakers, exhibitions and product pitches and unveilings. For those interested, the event would be at the Eko Hotel and Suites as opposed to the previous info that said it was going to be an online affair. This year’s events would include 70+ speakers, 10 keynotes, 20 pitches, 15 presentations/panels and over 2000 attendees. Speakers will include  Patrick Akinwutan(MD/CEO, Ecobank), Matt Flannery(CEO, Branch International), Richie Santos Diaz (MEA/RISE UK), Ade Bajomo (Access Bank), Tope Adeniyi (CEO, AXA Mansard), Alan Sinfield (CEO, 9Mobile). Also speaking will be Chikwe Ihekweazu (DG, NCDC), Jay Alaraba (Co-founder, Paga), Segun Aina of FintechNGR as well as many others.

We know certain products will be launching at the weeklong event. Some of them according to Techpoint, are SoftPay from Soft Alliance, Know Your Hands (KYFH). There will be over $200k in the way of freebies to be had including cryptocurrency thanks to Binance, Coinnewsextra, Future Tech, and EDGE196. The event had been scheduled to hold last month but was postponed due to the EndSARS protests. It was also originally billed to be an online affair but now, it will be happening at the Eko Hotel and Suites.
