No matter the state of the economy, there are some people that will not be affected as much as the normal folk, these people are the successful ones amidst us. The million dollar question is what makes them more successful than the ordinary people? This can be traced to some special qualities they exhibit and the zeal with which they carry out activities and achieve each goal set before them. Being successful does not start in a day, it is a continuous process that takes time, energy and mastery of an area of specialization. However, these are not the only things that make successful people who they are, these are some common attributes they all possess:
- They work hard: It is rare for a lazy person to become successful because success is synonymous with work and effort. Laziness has no place in the lives of successful people as they are always up and doing. They sleep less, eat less and play less compared to other people, and this is one of the main reasons why they become successful at whatever they lay their hands on.
- They never give up: Successful people are not scared of failure, in fact, they convert their weaknesses to strength. A little dose of failure discourages the majority of us and it is one of the major reasons why we do not make it to the top. Most successful people have at one time or the other tried and failed, but what made them successful is their inability to give up. Failure is not the end of the world, if it does not work the first time, try again.
- They wake up early: Time waits for no man and the early bird catches the worm. Successful people do not sleep long hours and expect fortune to smile on them. They get up early and plan their day ahead of time so as to be able to meet schedules and appointments. Waking up early has a positive impact on shaping your day to ensure that you make the most out of it.
- They do not procrastinate: Procrastination inadvertently leads to failure and disappointments. A stitch in time saves nine, if you are going to do something, you might as well do it on time. Successful people do not postpone things that can be done in a minute till the next day. This is perhaps a unique attribute that sets them apart from normal folks and makes them unique. To become successful, one has to stop procrastination as it is a bad habit that draws you back from opportunities and development.

Brilliant article!
A very interesting and detailed dose of what success really is. Procastination was once my favourite and convenient way of thinking. I’d put things off, hoping to do it some other day but secretly wishing I didn’t have to.
Consequently, it took me six steps back from where I ought to be and I had no one to blame but me.
Thank God for self realization!
