Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun has been appointed as an Ad Hoc member of the Investments Committee of United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). In a statement signed by Adeosun’s Special Adviser, Media and Communication, Oluyinka Akintunde, on Sunday in Abuja.  The statement disclosed that the minister will serve one year term effective from January 1, 2018. The statement added that the appointment was endorsed at the 55th plenary meeting of the 77th session of the General Assembly, as revealed in a letter issued by the UN under Secretary-General, Jan Beagle. The UN Under-Secretary-General congratulated her on her appointment while welcoming her to the committee. Adeosun has accepted her appointment into the UN committee. The a committee described by the representative of the UN Secretary-General on the Investments Committee of the UNJSPF, Ms Carolyn Boykin, has been created for the purpose of securing pension entitlements of international civil servants who participated in the Fund, ensuring that the investments are properly managed to preserve the capital of the Fund and also obtain a long-term real rate of investment return. The Fund is necessary for the provision  UN pension, death, disability and the other related benefits that are required for staff of the United Nations and the other organizations that have been admitted to membership in the Fund.
