Healthcare technology and logistics company, LifeBank on Monday, March 30, 2020 launched a first-of-its-kind COVID-19 drive-through mass testing centre in Lagos.

Working in partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), and other organizations committed to the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak including the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the drive-through mass testing centre will markedly increase the number of people tested for the COVID-19 virus in West Africa’s most populous country.

“The drive-through mass testing centre will make testing easier and faster for cases that meet the NCDC national case definition,”

Temie Giwa-Tubosun, Founder of LifeBank

“We know the importance of testing in the fight against COVID-19 and we believe that this mass testing centre will be a shot in the arm in the national efforts targeted at flattening the curve.”

The Director General of NIMR, Professor Babatunde Salako expressed his satisfaction with the initiative saying,

“The Nigerian Institute of Medical Research is grateful for the partnership and support coming from the LifeBank to provide this free COVID-19 test to members of the public who may need it.”

Lagos residents can check if they qualify for testing by visiting nimr.covid.com.ng to register and book an appointment.

Started in 2012 as a non-government organization called the ‘One Percent Project’, LifeBank’s mission is to deliver needed medical products such as blood, blood products, oxygen, as well as vaccines to hospitals across Africa.

It facilitates the transmission of blood from laboratories across Nigeria to patients and doctors in hospitals, delivering an average of 300 imperial pints of blood a month to more than 170 hospitals in Lagos.

The drive through testing is one of the several innovative products and services LifeBank has initiated to help the fight against COVID-19.
