The Lagos State government is about to sign into law the new bill that has a lot to do with the law and order of traffic. Although some few commercial motorists and motorcyclists feel this law is gunning to push them off the streets, it is just a way to bring sanity to the Lagos roads and safety. The laws will a.low the government put a pause into the reckless driving of all the people driving, or using public transport as it were. These new laws are to impose sanctions on motorists and motorcyclists all around the state not to push out any form of transportation. The new bill is as follows: –         Riding a motor-cycle against traffic; Riding on the curb, median or road setbacks (Penalty) 1st time offender –  N20,000.00 subsequent offender; N30,000.00 or the riders motor-cycle will be impounded –         One way driving (Penalty) 3year jail term after psychiatric  examination –         Smoking while driving (Penalty) N20,000.00 fine –         Failure to give way to traffic on the left at a roundabout (Penalty) N20,000.00 fine –         Disobeying traffic control (Penalty) N20,000.00 –         Violation of route by commercial   vehicles (Penalty) N20,000.00 fine. –         Riding motor-cycle without crash helmet for rider and passenger (Penalty) N20,000: 00 or 3 years imprisonment or both. –         Under aged person, under 18yrs old riding a motorcycle (Penalty) N20,000.00. –         Driving without valid driver’s license. (Penalty) Vehicle to be impounded. –         Learner driver without permit (Penalty) N20,000.00 –         Driving with fake number plate (Penalty) 1st offender N20,000.00 and 6 month  imprisonment or both.
