Eguavoen in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) hailed Amuneke’s appointment as a “very good development.’’
“Amuneke is my younger brother and we have worked together for so long. I think his coming into the team will add a lot of value also…Once we get information on a player, I will go round to watch him. And not just me, a couple of my colleagues are also watching.’’

The former Super Eagles defender also disclosed that Amuneke’s appointment will give his technical crew an edge in selecting talents in the Nigeria Professional Football League to play for the national team.
“That gives the home-based players a lot of hope and thinking that they will get a chance one day to play in the Super Eagles,’’
the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner said. Eguavoen led the Super Eagles to a second-round finish in the recently concluded 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon but won the admiration of Nigerians after assembling a squad void of some key players in less than a month before the start of the continental showpiece. The first task of the reconstituted national team technical crew is ensuring Nigeria books a place in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. Source: Complete Sports Featured Image Source: African Football
