Dixon-Olakunbi   Dixon Olakunbi, the Lagos-based female office administrator contestant has emerged as the winner of the highly contested grand finale of the Unilever Nigeria-sponsored TV-reality show tagged Knorr Taste Quest. She went home with N2 million cash, a Ford Eco Sport SUV by Coscharis Motors and Kenwood kitchen equipment. Her 2nd runner up, Nwando, a trained Vet Doctor won N1 million cash and Kenwood kitchen equipment while Olabode, the 3rd place winner got N500,000 cash prize and Kenwood kitchen equipment. Other contestants went home with different consolatory prizes of the Kenwood kitchen equipment. The grand finale exercise was embarked upon by five contestants instead of the four finalists. At the end of the challenging and competitive exercise, Dixon’s meal won the best reviews by the clearly impressed judges. Dr. Roberts who headed the jury confessed that although he was not a lover of avocado, he could not resist Dixon’s experiment with the fruit. Dixon said after she was declared the winner, “To say that I am shocked and surprised is an understatement. I wasn’t expecting to win. I hope that this is the beginning of good things to come; like more endorsements. This is just the beginning.” Nsima Ogedi-Alakwe, Brand Building Director, Foods, Unilever Nigeria expressed her satisfaction at the outcome of the show. She said that the winner displayed skills and talent that counted her worthy to be crowned as Nigeria’s best cook. She said, “I am extremely satisfied. I take that from the excitement from the audience and the winner. She has displayed skills and talent that set her apart from her contemporaries. About 14 of them started out when the show began some 15 weeks ago. Anybody could have won.”
