It Lowers Blood Glucose

Are you diabetic? Are you always concerned about your blood glucose level or do you have a diabetic relation who is? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then, you should know that even though beetroot has high sugar content, it can help lower your blood glucose level.  This is because it contains alpha-lipoic acid which is said to cause blood glucose reduction and increased insulin sensitivity. Moreover, the natural sugar in this vegetable is released slowly in the body so as to prevent sudden spikes.

It Improves Exercise Performance

Being in good health and loving sports is not all you need as an athlete or workout buff. You need strength, speed and of course, endurance. Endurance will strengthen your muscles and help you to work out and even carry out your day to day activities without getting exhausted. I know say you dey wonder wetin concern beetroot on top this exercise matter. Oya, make I tell you. Beetroot is said to be the magic drink of athletes. It is said to strengthen the muscles and increase the flow of oxygen to them; this prepares them for whatever athletic stress lies ahead.

It Aids Weight Loss and Weight Control

As has already been mentioned, beetroot has high fibre content. Fibre-rich foods are known to aid weight loss or weight control. This is because they leave you feeling fuller for a longer time. When you feel full, you have no need for food; this makes it an effective weight loss or weight control meal.
