Popular Yoruba movie actor, Dele Odule, yesterday emerged President of ‎the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria. ‎ ‎ The association is a breakaway faction of the crisis-ridden Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners, ANTP, which is largely made up of actors and actresses in the Yoruba movie industry.‎ At an election held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, ‎Mr. Antar Laniyan was elected Deputy President while Fathia Williams was elected director social activities. Ace director, Abbey Lanre emerged Director, Motion Pictures, as comedian Bolaji Amusan known as Mr Latin was elected Director, Business and Organising. Other elected officials include Yomi Fash Lanso as Director, Public Relations, Media Affairs and Research, and Dike Lambert as Provost Marshal. Bamidele Adeoti won as Financial Secretary while Ayo Olabiyi won as National Secretary. ‎In his acceptance speech, Dele Odule said he would use his office to resist the influence of godfatherism in the Nigerian movie industry. He also promised that all members of the association would be carried along in its affairs.
