Fast food has become a necessity given our busy lifestyle today. We have moved from locally produced foods to corporate fast foods. As a result, the amount of fast food consumed annually has increased significantly. Now, I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve observed a gender difference in fast food approach. I’m not just talking food choices, even though I have observed that women who visit fast foods prefer rice and snacks to swallow while guys prefer swallow. Anyways, my observation centers on restaurant choices. I may be wrong but when women think food, they usually think of restaurants like Kilimanjaro, Jevinik, Genesis. On the other hand, when guys think fast food, they think of mama puts and bukkas. Guys have this ability to find roadside restaurants that serve cheap but delicious meals. In my opinion, the same radar that shows them all the back roads in a city also shows them where to find correct restaurants.
Earlier this month, I went to my brother’s for the weekend. He lives in Yenegoa. That Saturday, he had errands to run. I was reluctant to stay at home since there was no light so I tagged along. Around 2pm, we became hungry. My brother said he knew this really nice place where we could dine. So we drove to Comfort Kitchen Services Limited. It’s located at NNPC Filling Station, by Isaac Boro Expressway, Baybridge Junction, Yenegoa. We parked inside the filling station. [My uncle also lives around that place, so while I know and have visited a couple of “big” fast food restaurants along that route, Comfort Kitchen did not come to my attention until that fateful day. When I mentioned this to my brother, he laughed and said it’s probably because they don’t sell ice cream. Can you imagine?]
Anyway, service was brisk on the day we visited; it seems the restaurant is a lunchtime favorite for many in the city. Customers go to the food counter where their orders are taken by efficient waiters. Afterwards, they find a place to sit and wait for their food to arrive. There were about six waiters working at the time we visited. My brother ordered vegetable soup, pounded yam, two pieces of meat and bottled water. I asked for egusi soup, Semo, two pieces of meat and bottled water. Our foods arrived in good time. The portions were reasonably large and the soups were delicious.
The eating area in the restaurant is moderately sized and neat. I think there were about eight plastic tables in the restaurant. There are standing fans positioned in different parts of the restaurant. In conclusion, Comfort Kitchen is a cool place to visit. They offer indoor and outdoor catering services too. You can check it out whenever you’re in Yenegoa.
