Brands are right to regard their logos as important. No doubt, their customers are attracted to them by the quality of service they deliver, but the company’s graphics may also play a big part in stirring up interest in what they are about. More often than not, a brilliant product wrapped in shoddy packaging gets overlooked, while less efficient but more attractively presented ones get the consumer’s nod.
Afridext is one of a large number of enterprises and startups offering graphics design services to individuals and businesses that want to create attention-grabbing logos, icons, and corporate item design. But with Afridext, there’s a twist- customer’s jobs are not just projects that have to be completed and sent to them on schedule; they’re contests in which customers are judges and designers are contestants.
Oladipo Olayanju, an Ibadan-based entrepreneur, founded Afridext as an online marketplace for contemporary designs that appeal to Africans. He says he set up the platform to offer something different from the myriad of other ad design businesses that battle for relevance in an increasingly saturated market. Afridext was launched in September 2016.
Customers who want designs set up contests for designers by submitting their requests through the online design brief and choosing contest prizes and options. Designers who are interested in entering the contest submit their designs, and the customers are able to view and rate their work. Customers also judge the work and award the prize money to the contest’s winner- while getting the winner’s design.
Services offered by Afridext’s community of designers include web design logos, flyers, icons, designs for gift items, t-shirts, and caps, as well as creative for brochures and stationeries.
Afridext is located at 22 Alhaji Taiwo Street, Agbowo, Ibadan. They can be reached via 080-5988-4966 or support@afridext(dot)com.
