INEC has released the election notice for the
gubernatorial election in Ekiti State which the commissioner said was in line with the provisions of the
1999 Constitution and the Electoral Law. The election has been set to hold on
Saturday, July 1 2018.
The electoral body went ahead to disclose that 500,000
Permanent Voters’ Cards have already been collected by residents in the state, but that 218,000 Permanent cards were yet to be collected.
The INEC’s public relations officer, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin, who disclosed, this advised those yet to pick up their PVCs to do so. Gbadegesin said that university students and youth corps members, who had completed their purpose and left the state might be those who had not collected their PVCs. Alternatively, he said that the commission was also suspecting persons who might have registered twice.
Gbadegesin said that the commission would still sensitise would-be voters ahead of the election. He also called on the various political parties to sensitize their followers and party members on the need for them to collect their PVCs.
