In this article, I’m going to discuss 8 ways to make your
employees productive.
-
Be Your Employee’s Role Model
You can’t be advocating for hard work, punctuality, innovative thinking etc in the workplace, wanting your employees to be what you’re advocating for without you leading by example. If you want punctuality, lead such a life in the workplace. You can’t demand what you don’t exhibit. You must be your employee’s role model.
-
Have A Human Face
Many employers are like God. They can’t be seen, smelt, heard or even reached. They stand aloof, invisible, cryptic, like a mystery that can’t be understood. Creating such an atmosphere where people can’t even see or relate with their employers or what he looks like can affect employees’ productivity. It can either make them work under tension, thinking that an invisible evil eye is watching them or that make them lose focus due to a leaderless atmosphere.
-
Create A Culture Of Transparency And Feedback
A workplace where employers are transparent and honest can affect the atmosphere and inspire employees to be productive. Creating an atmosphere where you don’t feel superior to others, but admit and appreciating brilliant ideas from employees can infuse inspiration. An employer that goes about with ego can’t be approached even when he’s wrong, thus, this can create an atmosphere of resentment among employees which in the long run affects productivity.
-
Get To Know Your Employees Personally
Getting to know your employees personally can help you know what their strengths and weaknesses are. It can also help you to know which of them are faced with one challenge or the other. This can make you truly care about your employees. When they’re aware that you’re interested in what goes on in their lives, it can be motivating.

Appreciate Good Work
Giving commendations, pay raises, awards, rewards etc to exceptional workers can really boost productivity. It can encourage others to work harder and improve on themselves. In a workplace where there’s no reward system, productivity tends to lessen or decrease.
-
Empower Them With Good Working Tools And Space
Working with poor or malfunctioning tools cannot only cause poor production and output, but it can also frustrate your employees and discourage them in the long run. Working with outdated or poor facilities can affect productivity as it will cause employees to drag on with their jobs which can be discouraging. Creating an atmosphere of quality space and top-notch facilities can create a smooth office operation.

Make Every Employee Part Of The Company’s Mission
When employees are made to feel part of the company’s historic mission, they tend to give their all. When you make an employee feel he’s part of the company and that his contributions are by no means a small measure towards making the company grow, you can be sure to get his 100 percent loyalty.
-
Encourage Autonomy
Encouraging autonomy within the company can really get employees grinding without loss of enthusiasm. One of the ways is to give them more roles they can take independently with little supervision, allow for the pursuit of different projects that are related to the company’s goal etc. within the company. As an employer, always give room for intrapreneurship among employees. Intrapreneurship is acting like an entrepreneur within an established company. This has been the secret of big establishments.
