Anxiety is one of the tools that can clamp up your Christmas cheer, as it bears down unnecessary pressures on you. Most ailments are caused by worry and tension, with people stewing about issues they can’t fully comprehend. Here are food intakes you should watch out for this Christmas.

Foods That Triggers Worry: Sugar:

Sugar, in itself, does not cause anxiety. Anxiety is a mental health issue, and it’s very uncommon for a person’s diet to “cause” anxiety. What sugar does do is create variations in your body that may make your anxiety symptoms worse, or cause feelings that trigger anxiety attacks. Sugar is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream and the depletion of it can increase your anxiety.

Caffeine:

Caffeine increases the levels of your stress hormone adrenaline, and blocks the effects of hormones called serotonin and melatonin, and makes you prone to anxiety.

Alcohol:

Alcohol, like caffeine, should not be taken to ease anxiety as your good mood would only be temporary, rather take water, and stay hydrated in other to help your mood. If you do drink, drink in moderation.

Processed Foods:

Unlike fresh food produce, eating processed fatty foods increases the rate of depression. Eat fresh foods, like fish and vegetables.  It’s best for your mood to skip the over-processed foods.

Food Deficient in Magnesium and Vitamin D:

Research has shown that low levels of Vitamin D are quite common among people with depression and anxiety Vitamin D known as the sunshine vitamin can help brighten your day if found in your food intake.
