Everyone has a story to tell. Your story has the potency to help someone somewhere find their way out of a challenge or a phase in their life.

Two successful women, Funke Medun and Olujoke Aliu, met in a pastry shop in Abuja for some cupcakes, and decided to write an autobiography on their journeys to 40, titled 40 Lessons On Our Journeys To 40.

40 Lessons On Our Journeys To 40

The book outlines some significant experiences from the lives of both writers on their different journeys to the benchmark age of 40. Each chapter in the book is about a lesson and an instruction from their journeys so far, with topics from several aspects of life including family, relationships, career, money, business, leadership and personal development.

In Nigeria and several other parts of the world, there is a people stereotype about how the life of a man and woman is supposed to go, a pattern that dictates that by age 25, a woman is expected to be married and focused on building her family regardless of her career plans. And at age 30, a man should already be financially established and married. A deviation from this stereotype would automatically mean that both are unsuccessful irrespective of their accomplishments in career or other life ambitions.

This stereotype is one of the major issues this book seeks to address as it speaks to not only men and women over 40, but everyone who is ambitious and willing to take a step in the right path to being the very best versions of themselves.

Though the book was originally published on Amazon on January 28, 2018, the official book launch was held on Sunday evening at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, to cordially wish both ladies a happy 40th birthday.

In attendance were business elites from various sectors of the Nigeria’s trade industry, many of which share close relationships with the writers.

The Board Chairman of Access Bank, Mosun Bello Olusoga, represented by the DMD of Access Bank, Roosevelt Ogbonna, gave the opening introduction to the book at the event.

The MD/CEO, Plus TV Africa, Kayode Akintemi, the DG, Nigeria British Chamber of Commerce, Bunmi Afolabi, and Nkem Aboti, all shared their reviews of selected chapters from the book with the guests at the launch.

According to the writers, Funke and Joke, proceeds from the the book will be used to assist physically challenged entrepreneurs and indigent children across Nigeria.
