ConnectNigeria-Being Alone   Single life is sweet. Not single as in not married, single as in not dating anyone. It’s a time for self-discovery. ~ @missmaplecherry, on Twitter Those are true words, no matter how strange they sound! There are people who don’t want to be alone- they must be dating someone at every given time. Even if the person is unsuitable, they would rather have that than be alone. Have you ever stopped to consider that being alone- not in a romantic relationship with anyone- can be a huge plus? Jumping from relationship to relationship ensures that you never have the time to be alone with, and get to know the awesome person that is YOU. In fact, it doesn’t have to be many relationships; being in a relationship over a long time can have the same effect. If you are young and not yearning for a spouse and a family yet, grabbing some good “me time” by staying single for a period is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. You may think you know yourself and you know what you want, but it’s likely that you really don’t if you’re in your teens and early twenties. YOU are your greatest product, your greatest asset, a brand, but romantic involvement is so consuming and distracting that you can’t see YOU, much less build and position YOU for success. When you’re single and unattached, you have the time to listen to your own thoughts, explore new hobbies, develop new skills, deepen your friendships and family relationships, travel and learn new cultures, and basically enjoy your own company. A whole world of experience and self-discovery is in front of you. You’re only going to marry one man anyway. Don’t let romantic entanglements rob you of this powerful season. Put your growth and development first and real love will be so much better when its time comes.
