If you make these changes, but still find it hard to focus during the day, stay awake, or be in a good mood, then it might be time to talk to a doctor. Here are some tips for getting rid of brain fog.

Get More Sleep

Lack of sleep can affect cognitive functions such as thinking, memory, and even decision making. If you experience brain fog, it’s important to examine your sleep patterns and make getting enough sleep a priority. Although a night or two of less sleep may not cause you any problems, failing to sleep in the course of several days would eventually lead to lethargy, irritability, and difficulty in concentrating. Aim for anywhere between 7 to 9 hours to ensure you get the right amount of sleep.

Find Ways To Alleviate Stress

Stress can have several negative effects on the body and making the brain foggy is no exception. While you may have many responsibilities, it’s imperative to take out some time to cool off. This could be as little as 1 hour a day to as large as several hours a day depending on how busy you are.

Some enjoyable activities you can indulge yourself in include playing video games, spending time with loved ones, travelling, reading a book, and more. Even if you can only spare 30 minutes of your time each day, make sure to do something you love as this will ensure you come out feeling refreshed and energised.

Stay Active

It’s no coincidence that brain degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s dementia and mild cognitive dysfunction are common among populations of people who live sedentary lives. Exercise and physical activity are not just great for the body but are also associated with a healthy mental state. Exercise induces the release of hormones called endorphins which make you feel good. Every day, make an effort to engage in some form of active movement. Even if it’s a fast-paced walk around your neighbourhood, engaging in some form of physical activity every day will help your brain stay in shape.

Eat Healthily

The absence of important nutrients in the body can make it difficult to focus. To avoid this, you should eat nutrient-rich foods such as nuts, lean poultry and fish, and green veggies. Reduce your intake of snacks or fast food, as these foods don’t contain many nutrients and may even be contributing to your brain fog and tiredness.
