A 37th-minute strike from Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa condemned the Eagles to their first loss against the Central Africans since Gernot Rohr took charge of the national team. Nigeria will be looking to pay back on Tuesday, June 8th, the second leg of the friendlies at the same venue by 5 pm (WAT). In the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Kano Pillars moved back to the top of the table on Sunday, June 6th, after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba. Victor Chukwuma Mbaoma gifted Enyimba the lead in the 8th minute at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Zaria while a Rabiu Ali penalty restored parity in the 52nd minute before Ifeanyi Eze scored the winner for the Sai Masu Gida in the 76th minute of the encounter. At the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, Akwa United battled to a 2-2 draw against hosts, Wikki Tourists, to drop to second place on the table. Michael Stephen scored the opener in the encounter for Akwa United in the 33rd minute of the match, but it took Wikki just four minutes to reply through a Saidu Salisu strike. Charles Atshimene made it 2-1 for Akwa United in the 53rd minute before Michael Stephen scored his second goal of the game in the 71st  minute to ensure the game ended in a stalemate.

Nigerian Shot Put king, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, was outstanding at the USATF Showcase in Texas on Sunday, throwing a Season’s Best (SB) of 21.53m to win the men’s Shot Put event.
