The director of award-winning movie Wedding Party 2, Niyi Akinmolayan, has released a teaser of his first animated feature film.
The film, titled Frogeck, is set in a futuristic Ibadan, Nigeria and follows the story of an infant alien by the name Frogeck who is found by three orphans after it had been abandoned on a hill somewhere in the South West city.
Some of the other characters in the film are:
Snuggles; a cute baby dragon,
2-year-old Ada, a girl from the orphanage who turns out to be Snuggle’s best friend
the inseparable Lola (11)
and Habib (8)
Segma, Frogeck’s butler robot
The Characters
The teaser was uploaded on Youtube and is directed by Nurudeen Momodu, a computer graphics artist who is also the lead animator at Anthill Studios. There will be inputs from some of Nigeria’s finest animation studios in making the final film, which will be Nigeria’s first animated full-length feature film.
Anthill Studios is owned by Akinmolayan. It released the viral animated short film Plaything in 2016 and is set to release its 13 episodes animation series, Adventures of Lola and Chuchu.
Frogeck will be released in December 2019 in the three most popularly used languages across Africa; English, French and Swahili.
