  Global electric vehicle manufacturing firm, Saglev, has commenced the assembly of electric cars in its Nigeria branch in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, disclosed this through a post on X on Thursday, July 27, 2024.

Saglev’s Chief Executive Officer, Sam Faleye, says the electric vehicles can cover an impressive 300 km after a single charge, equivalent to a 10-time ride from Oshodi to Ajah in Lagos State. He also noted that charging is convenient because it is likely twice a week. Once it is fully charged, it takes at least four hours to use a level two charger.

Dada Olusegun’s post on X said. Electric cars are essential in the fight against climate change as the world beefs up efforts to make the environment a better place to live for future generations.

Nigeria has not done much in combating the threat of climate change, but encouraging the use of electric cars is a huge step ahead because it will prevent the emission of harmful gases into the environment. The government must create initiatives aimed at sensitizing people to the threat of climate change and the need to take measures aimed at fighting it.
