  1. Make a habit of taking Vitamin C, zinc, and multivitamin daily. Take these drugs, which are prophylactic, with you whenever you are travelling. (Prophylactic drugs refer to preventive drugs for those who were wondering what that meant.)
  2. Keep sachets of mint or ginger tea which you can drink hot whenever you want to. In the event your throat feels dry or sore, you can make hot tea with these to drink. Travelling with mint tea or ginger tea to drink daily is not compulsory, but it can be helpful.
  3. Always keep a box of facemasks and a bottle of sanitizer close by when travelling. This way, you are not stranded when certain areas or places require you to wear one to access them.
  4. Once you wear a face mask, do not reuse it. Don’t feel bad even if you have to use over two wipes per day.
  5. Sanitize regularly as often as possible.
  6. Avoid touching external surfaces for support when walking. If you absolutely need to hold a railing, make sure you sanitize before and after touching it.
  7. Avoid touching your nose, ears, eyes, mouth, etc. if you must clean the above, wipe with a tissue.
  8. Drink lots of water and stay hydrated.

9. Ensure you do your COVID tests when leaving and coming back into the country. If you have concluded all your COVID vaccines plus booster shots, you may end up with only the Day 2 test when you get back to Nigeria. If you aren’t, you will have to do both the Day 2 and 7 tests. 10. Get fully vaccinated. Do it before the trip. Staying up-to-date with your vaccination will increase your personal protection against the virus. Sure, there are more important things happening in the world than COVID at the moment. But if you must travel, doing and passing the COVID tests is crucial. It may be difficult to travel and return COVID-free. So endeavour to do all within your power to stay COVID-free. Once this is out of the way, you will be glad you travelled. As long as you follow the standard COVID rules and regulations, you should be just fine.
