If you are a Nigerian who has spent most of your life in just one city, then you might not appreciate the beauty of Nigeria. To see new people and places, you have to be ready to get out of your comfort ‘city’ and into the larger society where individuals from diverse backgrounds converge and live together in a peaceful atmosphere. One of the importance of the National Youth Service Corps is to get youths out of their known environment into other places where they can learn and develop themselves. Although Nigeria is a very large country and it may not be possible to get to all areas, if you are thinking of visiting beautiful places, here are some states that are worth exploring:

Lagos State: LagosSome say if you have never been to Lagos, then you do not know Nigeria. Lagos state was formerly the capital of Nigeria until December 1991. The capital of the city is Ikeja and she still remains the most populous state in Nigeria till date. The city houses a lot of people from different parts of Nigeria and is known for its business-minded people. Nicknamed the centre of excellence, Lagos State is a place you must not exclude from your travel list of Nigerian states.

FCT, Abuja: AbujaThis is the beautiful Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria and is a very important place to visit in Nigeria. This is because it is also full of different people from different ethnic groups in Nigeria. Businesses thrive and excel here because there is a large market and an infinite number of people that demand goods and services. Abuja is a place where top-notch executives and powerful people reside, therefore, it is a bit expensive to live there.

Cross River State: cross riverEver heard of the famous Obudu Cattle Ranch? Cross River is one of the few states in Nigeria that generates income from tourism as a result of the natural resources present in the state. The Obudu ranch is the major tourist attraction site in Cross River State that attracts a lot of visitors from inside and outside Nigeria. You do not want to miss seeing this naturally beautiful part of Nigeria.

Kano State: KanoHow we love the old and ancient city of Kano. This is one of the first states in Nigeria, that even though old, has not lost its beauty over the years. One of the most amazing things about Kano State is her uniqueness, at certain parts of the city you can find old and ancient buildings, while in other areas you will find skyscrapers and world-class establishments. Kano is Nigeria’s centre of commerce as you will find that the people residing in this historic part of Nigeria are not lazy at all.
