  The World Bank is offering law students from across the world the opportunity to intern with it. This program is designed to enable its participants to improve their legal skills in a multicultural environment while gaining research experience and learning innovative ideas.

Persons selected for this program will work with the team at the World Ban’s Legal Vice Presidency and learn how the institution’s legal arm operates.

Internship Duties

Students selected for this program will take part in work at the World Bank in the following ways:
  • Take on legal assignments while overseen by supervising lawyers.
  • Carry out research on issues assigned to them using databases available to them, analyze the information they gather and summarize their findings.
  • Conduct comparative legal analysis on multiple issues within a given area, and come up with possible solutions.
  • Take part in the planning and organization of meetings and conferences.
  • Be involved with project teams under the supervision of lawyers at the World Bank.

Eligibility

To qualify for the World Bank Legal Internship program, applicants should meet these conditions:

  • Be a citizen of an IBRD (World Bank) member state (e.g. Nigeria).
  • Presently enrolled in an LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, PhD, or an equivalent program.
  • Have an excellent command of the English language; preference will be shown for candidates who have a decent command of a second language that is a working language of the IBRD (Chinese, French, Arabic, Spanish, or Russian).

More Information About The Internship

Applications for the internship will remain open until Thursday, September 30, 2021. Applicants are expected to submit the following to the Google form here:
  • Resume
  • Statement of interest
  • Proof of enrollment in a law degree
  • Academic transcripts
  • A short essay that answers a question asked by the Legal Vice Presidency for the application period.
